It's funked out on mine too -- the entries are all down on the left side, rather than in the middle...

Switch to Firefox. Platform independent and open source, plus a free download. It'll plug in all your bookmarks, too.
I use IE at work (although I should get Firefox) and Safari at home.
But you appear to have employed some strategery to fix the problem.

Actually it's still knackered on Safari. Perhaps I didn't check it on IE previously...
