hi! and happy new year. i don't have my camera with me at work today so i will not be uploading nye pics, but to tell you the truth, i got pretty drunk and didn't take many. i haven't even looked at the ones i did take, so... i'm not promising anything.

my party went well, which is to say not perfectly, but everyone had a good time and really, isn't that all that matters? bright and early the morning of nye my dad came and delivered my WASHING MACHINE and DRYER which are the most awesome fantastic things! i did so much laundry, you wouldn't believe it. or, maybe you would. who knows. anyway, so much laundry put me off schedule for my FABULOUS party! so i had to cut it short and start baking, browning, sauteeing, simmering, ET CETERA! i made a lemon-raspberry pound cake which came out REALLY good, but no one tried it. it's ok, MORE FOR ME! i also made my mom's chicken and wine sauce and lasagna (half shawn's recipe, half my mom's, and half the recipe on the box). the lasagna looked like crap but ended up tasting good. shawn brought his sister's stuffed mushrooms.

anne arrived with fudge and made some oils and put out bread... and a lot of other stuff! i don't know what she was doing but she was cheffing it up quite a bit. :) right before dinner she sauteed some red onions and sliced mushrooms and then wilted some fresh spinach in it... mmm! christian and kelly brought a beautiful looking antipasto plate which christian made by himself. i don't think i have a picture, but trust me. it was awesome... looking, anyway. i didn't get to eat any and kelly took the leftovers home! :( it's ok, because no one ate my taco dip either so i had lots of fat-free pound cake, taco dip and stuffed mushrooms to keep me company all day sunday.

anyway! alexis and cam came with mashed potatoes, cookies and cupcakes that spelled "happy new year"... very cute! kelly also brought a friend from work--anna--who looked very much like catherine keener and was very nice. after appetizers in the living room, we moved into the kitchen for dinner, which was yummy and delicious! after eating anne helped me clean up the kitchen and then we turned the dinner table into a beriut table. classy!! of course, that's when things get a little blurry for me. i was REALLY confused by anne's methods for choosing teams (especially since we were all pretty much coupled up except anne and anna and come on, they're a natural team, right? difference=one vowel.) anyway, i do remember that christian and i won, but everyone lost interest after the quarter-finals.

jani and a friend of hers came by to say hi despite crappy weather (hi, jani! sorry i was sooo drunk). i did manage to get out my champagne flutes and get some bubbly poured in time, but i forgot to kiss shawn until he reminded me! ha, i suck. after that, i may have tried to start a game of asshole, and when i'm too drunk for asshole, i'm too drunk, period. and, i was too drunk for asshole. in my defense, for like the first time in the history of me, EVERYONE (10 people) wanted to play, so it was more confusing than i was really prepared for. so i quit and napped a little.

around 3 everyone called it quits and went home or to bed, and in the morning shawn was an absolute angel by helping me clean up. then i did more laundry!! ahaha. so everyone: thanks! i had a really, really, really good time and i'm so glad all of you could make it. i am really sorry if any of you saw my underwear and i am sorry i was too drunk to be conversational. but i enjoyed your company and can't wait to see you all again for GNO1/21!

for the rest of my mini vacation i alternatingly ater leftovers, tidied, and read memiors of a geisha, which was very, very good. alexis had it on her desk for four years and always said it was her favorite--i can't believe i never read it, because it was So Good. well, thanks paramount or whoever the heck made the movie for your moti-vacion (said like doug heffernan. there's really no way to spell it better)! i want to read the lion, the witch and the wardrobe, too... i've read it before but none of the plot points discussed about the movie are really ringing a bell. seriously, i have about zerooooo reading comprehension.

anywhoo, i hope everyone had a fun nye. i did! pics soon. :)
